New Castle County (DE) Police Summarily Execute Unarmed Erik Turnbull

Mr. Erik Turnbull

OGLETOWN, DE — A man is dead after police say he tried to run them over with his car.

The execution took place late Thursday afternoon at the Harbor Club apartment complex. New Castle County police say they were conducting a “drug investigation” inside the complex. According to police, they tried to pull over Mr. Erik Turnbull. Police say he rammed one unmarked cop car, and struck another car in trying to escape. Two cops then opened fire on Mr. Turnbull, 32, striking him in the chest, killing him instantly. The two cops who killed Mr. Turnbull have been placed on “administrative duty” pending the outcome of the proverbial kangaroo investigation which will now take place.

Watch a report from Delawareonline.com, which family members are interviewed, and reveals how police treated them like criminals.

It appears state-run media outlets tried to come up with a “prior criminal record” of Mr. Turnbull to help justify the execution, but only came up with a few traffic tickets. Police across America will always immediately tell the public that the people they kill had a gun which, despite the 2nd Amendment and Americans’ right to bear arms, also is used to justify these executions.

Since Mr. Turnbull did not have a gun, police will say he “used his car as a deadly weapon.” The family, however, does not believe the story the police are telling because they say he was not a confrontational person. The kangaroo investigation being conducted should conclude within 6-8 weeks with an inevitable “justified” disposition.

Mr. Turnbull leaves behind three children – ages 11, 2, and 1 – who will now grow up without a father. Our thoughts are with the Turnbull family.

I have been following this since I heard of it.
Foremost, I send my condolences and prayers to the family members of Erik Turnbull.

It is apparent that this issue is needed to be addressed and it leads me to shift attention to something else that I believe is clearly a sign of how dangerous our state has become and how close we have allowed our lawmakers to waltz our state from being one that focuses on true constitutional values of liberty and independnce to being drawn ever closer to a police state.

Just within the past week our states lawmakers have decided to again strip our rights away of having a constitutional sheriff a conservator of the peace that is established for the people and not for the governments best interests. HB 345 strips our County Sheriffs from being able to investigate felonious crimes and arrest criminals, passed by our state house members 36-2 and will be voted on in our State Senate sometime in June.

New Castle and Kent County Sheriff say they do not have the power to arrest or investigaet felonious activities. Yet they do and only one county sheriff is doing all he can to give the people of Delaware a right to have a conservator of the peace still in office– elected by the people– representing the people, to investigate felonies. Even when the felonious activities are conducted by state appointed or elected agencies. Pete Schwartzkopf and others have made open statements that they don’t like the people being in charge of the governemnt and having someone over our State appointed Law Enforcement Officers.
The Executive office of the County Sheriff is the highest office in the county holding more power than even the President of the United States of America according to US Supreme Court Rulings.
And in this one case alone the Turnbulls should be able to turn to their County Sheriff and demand he investigate this matter and be assured that they would have answers given and if any foul play or unconstitutonal action was done it would be brought forth.
This of course depends on having a Sheriff who properly applies the Constitutional authority they have. And not just doing what New Castle and Kent County Sheriff say they are going to do. (hand out subpoenas and foreclosures, which is a very controversial subject that has some risks of banking fraud included in it as well– I won’t go into at this time).

I Pray that the family gets answers to what took place and why Erik was stopped in the first place. There has to be a constitutional reason for demanding he stop, and there has to be proper identification of who was demanding he stop. that is protected by the 4th Amendment and Due Process of Law that is protected by the 5th and 14th Amendments.

I think it is a real shame that so many people on both sides are calling each other names. In reality there are closed minded people in every occupation , every community , every race, every religion! Why is it that people don’t realize by yelling and screaming and accusing one another of injustices doesn’t fix the problem or make things right! Yes, there are police officers who assume things about people that they shouldn’t but I also see individuals who lump all officers into a negative sterotype. I have seen some very nice , compassionate police officer come thru the Sparrow Run Community. They have volunteered their time to provide cooking classes to the children , donated nice clothing to the community center for area children , mentored some young men who were trying to turn their lives around yet very few ever acknowledge their efforts to help the community. It saddens me deeply that a young man lost his life especially when it appears that he was working hard to turn his life around. It saddens me that a young man who was working hard to be a REAL father not just someones baby’s daddy will never be able to see his children grow up. It saddens me to know that his mother , sister, grandmother and girlfriend will not be able to carry on a conversation,be hugged or celebrate another holiday with their loved one.
I have spent many of hours over the past 13 years having conversations with police officers , teachers ,and every day citizens that there are many good , intelligent people living in Sparrow Run so when I hear some people using words like retribution, all cops are pigs , rumble it saddens me even more because that just gives validation to those small minded people who lump all Sparrow Run residents as either drug dealers , drug users or lazy!! PAUSE, take time to think what the best way to bring attention to Eric’s untimely death and maybe the injustice! Eric is in heaven now where there is no closed minded people , no pain , no hatred or violence I don’t think he would want any violence or hatred being added to his death.Lets wait for the final findings and if they appear to be unfair then act like the intelligent community I know Sparrow Run is and take it peacefully to the Govenor’s office! In the mean time Eric would probably want to be remembered as making a difference for his children, so why not put time and effort into cleaning up the park and refusing to allow the children to witness drug use, violence and prejudices. Get serious about running out people with guns , who jeopardize the children of the community.
This post is out of love for all people and is written with the utmost respect to all!

In many instances across the globe cops stop threatening situations without killin the person. Why was it okay to take this mans life when he so called tried to hit the police. There are tires an engine and many other spots to place a bullet then throught the windshield or side door of the vehicle. I dont understand if a cops job is to subdue a person 1st by using non-lethal force why wasnt that the option. In high speed chases they dont shoot at the vehicle. So why shoot at this vehicle in an enclosed neighborhood
I have so many questions about our justice system because people are pressumed guilty until proveb innocent. Police are sterotyping black men n women before they even have a chance to speak. It sad that the justice system wont focus on the wrong going on inside of the justice dept. Everyone has a right to be heard and Erik’s right to be heard was taken from him! Im sure they found nothing on him or the car so now his children have no father for no reason. My prayers are with his family and his children, this is the begining of change so long as we all stand up for Eriks rights because he cant.

So he was in the car trying to get away when they shot him. . . We can assume that they had to shoot through the open car window or through the glass of a moving car to hit their target. Shot in the chest while he is in the car? What was the trajectory of the bullets? How did the bullet(s) land in the chest and not in the head or the shoulders if Mr. Turnbull was in the car trying to flee? Where were the officers when the shooting occurred? Or was Mr. Turnbull out of the car? So many questions. . . The only things that are perfectly clear from this story is that a father (son, brother, friend, etc.) is dead at the hands of two well-trained murderers. The true story may never be told. Sorry, but no matter how you look at it, it is a sad story!

Explain how it killed him instantly and he was able to drive off. Then veer into bushes and someones backyard. Explain how in an apartment complex there was a routine traffic stop, then it changes to a drug investigation. Explain how he is called the suspect from the beginning. Explain how you knew to pull over Mr. Turnbull. There seems to be a lot of covering up and it sounds like Erik Turnbull was setup. How was he shot in the chest and then there saying it hit his arm first then chest. If both officers began firing you mean to tell me only one officer bullet killed him. Shaking my head. How many bullets hit the vehicle? Why did Turnbull’s family find out so late. Who made it okay to not notify his family, and then do an autospy. It was known what killed him a gum shot wound. Why was there such gap between the he was killed and when his mother and sisters found out. Ms. King needs to see her truck and her son. It was landless an homicide. Meaning New Castle Police killed him. God knows justice will be served. A lot of things seem to have gone on and wasn’t
professional. Im hoping that the witness that the police told to not say anything, speaks up and Newcastle county doesn’t have her change her story. Or any witness for that matter.
